The RTOS Motto: On Time And On Budget
But is an RTOS always necessary? The answer is application-specific, so understanding what one will deliver is key to determining whether it becomes a requirement or an extravagance.
In general, an RTOS can be used anywhere a non-RTOS is employed. However, it’s rare to find an operating system with a matching RTOS that has exactly the same application programming interface (API). Many of them, though, embed an RTOS within a conventional operating system. For example, Lynux- Works LynxOS and Bluecat Linux share a Linux API. LynxOS is a hard RTOS, while Bluecat inherits its base from Linux.
Linux continues to improve its real-time performance, but its worst-case interrupt latency still doesn’t meet what would be considered hard real time for an RTOS. It all comes down to quality of service (QoS). Platforms like RTLinux Free augment Linux, providing hard real-time class QoS.
It’s important to note that this type of addition often incorporates an RTOS programming environment that’s distinct from the original operating system. An RTOS is typically small compared to a conventional desktop or server OS. They often target more smaller, resource-constrained microcontrollers. For instance, CMX’s CMX-RTX and CMX-Tiny+ can run on 8-bit MCUs up through 64-bit processors.
The increased power and memory capacity of 8-bit processors is making an RTOS more desirable for these platforms. But, an OS or RTOS is usually a requirement in 16-bit platforms and up with RTOS products like Express Logic’s ThreadX, Wind River’s VxWorks, Micrium’s uCOS-II, and Green Hills Software’s velOSity being common selections. Depending on requirements, MontaVista’s Linux meets 16- and 32-bit platform requirements in the low microsecond range.
THE RTOS CORE: SCHEDULING AND PARTITIONING
Most programmers aren’t familiar with RTOS constraints and requirements. Most usually opt for an RTOS due to its performance. Most RTOS products are small and fast, yet an RTOS also adds consistency. Beyond the fact that an RTOS gets the job done quickly, it can guarantee a job will get done.
In many applications, a late result can be catastrophic. Thus, a poor result within the proper timeframe is preferable. These applications are generally called hard real-time systems. Hard real time doesn’t indicate how fast the system may be or how quickly a system may respond. Rather, it refers to how reliably a system can meet the specified requirements.
A hard real-time system may have a fixed cycle time of one minute with a response time of one second. In theory, it’s something almost any operating system could handle. This isn’t always the case, though, as anyone can attest to when waiting for a desktop application to respond within a minute.
Hard real-time systems typically have shorter cycle times and tighter response requirements. Faster processors always help, and multicore platforms can improve response time, too. The trick for developers is to match system requirements to the hardware and software, hence the importance of an RTOS in embedded applications.
An RTOS can implement a range of scheduling policies, and the application will often restrict a programmer’s choices (see the table). Non-preemptive scheduling is trivial to implement but useful in some applications. On the other hand, non-preemptive scheduling within a task can be implemented on top of a preemptive system.
Non-preemptive should not be overlooked, especially in light of new multicore processors. Here, hardware may be tuned to handle an event-based operation in which a thread will wait for an external event to occur. This approach is usually unsuitable for a single-core processor handling multiple threads. On multicore systems with many cores, though, it’s often typical to dedicate one core to handle one peripheral. It then makes sense to have that core idle while waiting for an event to occur.
As a result, preemptive, interrupt-driven RTOS architectures make up the majority of platforms deployed. These platforms have a range of requirements, issues, and solutions (see the figure). Interrupt latency is always an issue, although hardware— multiple register sets, hardware scheduling and task switching, and hierarchical priority interrupt systems—can significantly reduce this overhead.
Several issues coincide with preemption. Most are timing-related, like race conditions, deadlock, starvation, and priority inversion, which occurs when a low-priority task A owns a synchronization resource of a higher-priority task B, and a task C with priority higher than A is running.
Without a feature like priority ceilings, task C can prevent task A and C from running. A priority-ceiling feature changes the priority of task A to that of task C, allowing it to run and eventually release the resource needed by C. At this point, task A’s priority returns to normal and task C can run.
The other timing-related issues, which the programmer must address, are often the sources of bugs that are difficult to locate and correct. Trace tools become valuable assets in locating these kinds of bugs, since symptoms such as blocked tasks are the only indication of the problem

NOVA-II Spectrometer

Overview:

The heart of the OMA analyzer series is the nova-II spectrometer. Its diode array contains 1,024 photodiodes, each designated to detect a specific wavelength. Collecting light intensity data from all these diodes simultaneously, the nova-II continuously produces full, high-resolution spectra of sample absorbance.

In engineering a spectrophotometer, higher light transmittance means more robust data. This was our guiding principle in designing the nova-II; we set out to achieve maximal light throughput while retaining an extremely stable, solid state build. The use of a dispersive holographic grating erases the need for multiple focusing mirrors (as found in Czerny-Turner models). Having fewer reflective elements reduces both stray light and incident light loss--manifesting as a very high signal-to-noise ratio.

The 3281W NMEA2000 Fresh Water Level Sender will provide a ±2% accurate fresh water tank level to the NMEA2000 marine network and reports it's level in 1% increments.

It is robustly constructed in stainless steel with no moving parts to stick or fail in service. It is easily cut to length to suit tank depths from 200mm to 2 metres and is self calibrating at power on.

The Tank Sender can store an alphanumeric Tank Name and Tank Shape Calibration data so that displays on the network can show the tank name and it's remaining capacity in Litres, US Gallons or in Gallons.

It is easily fitted in the fresh water tank into a 1.25" BSP threaded hole. It can also be attached to the industry standard SAE 5 bolt fitting by using the 5 Bolt to 1.25" BSP Mounting Ring supplied.



Up to 16 Fresh Water Tank Level Senders can be connected to a single network and the sender number is simply selectable at installation by means of the small rotary switch.

It will be certified to the NMEA2000 network standard and attaches to the network using a single "Micro" plug. It draws less than 50mA from the network.

It comes complete with a full installation and operation manual, tank gasket and combined power and signal cable. It takes power from the NMEA2000 network and requires no additional wiring.

The ILT-6000 contains a low profile waveguide that is inserted into a waveguide sleeve (thermowell) and float assembly. The waveguide sleeve isolates the internal waveguide from the process environment and protects it from excessive process conditions. This provides an additional safety barrier for the operator. Bypass ChamberThe LGT-6000 series level transmitter is the first magnetostrictive level sensor that is specifically designed for sight glass automation. The low profile waveguide can be mounted internally into (wetted) or externally against (non-wetted) on most sight gauge installations. The benefits are the operator gains 100% visual confirmation between the local level within the sight gauge and the remote level readout of the transmitter provided by the float position.
The MGT-6000 series liquid level transmitter is exclusively for magnetic level indicators. The low profile waveguide is mounted away from the level gage chamber. This design isolates the dual sealed waveguide from excessive vibration and temperature. Enhanced sensor technology provides an output signal that is sensitive, fast, and accurate with low power requirements. The MGT-6000 can be mounted and retrofitted to most magnetic liquid level indicators.

Jogler Direct-Reading Level Gauges are the simplest, most reliable way to determine the level of liquid in a tank or vessel, because they give you a direct view without compromising the integrity of your process system. Jogler level gauges are installed so that the liquid level in the transparent sight tube is always the same as the liquid level inside the tank or vessel. Jogler direct-reading level gauges can be used at operating pressures up to 300 psi. For higher operating pressures, use Jogler Magnetic Level Gauges.

Simple, reliable, and maintenance-free
Jogler level gauges are simple: the only components (not including mounting hardware) are the armored shield, the sight tubing, and two self-sealing Super-Seal inserts. These products are maintenance-free, because only the Teflon Super-Seal inserts and the borosilicate sight tubing are exposed to process fluids. Once the gauges are installed, they do not have to be removed and disassembled for inspection or cleaning. Standard shields are epoxy-coated carbon steel.

SuperSeal inserts for permanent, stress-free sealing
All Jogler level gauges incorporate patented PTFE Teflon Super-Seal inserts, which seal on the outside diameter, not the ends, of the sight tube. Since Super-Seal inserts allow sight tube movement without leaking, stresses caused by differential expansion between the sight tube and the housing are eliminated. There are no elastomer seals or o-rings to inspect and replace: Super-Seal inserts last the life of the sight tubing.

The 3R AMI system is designed for an automatic identification, sorting, or an incoming/outgoing inspection of products or of their material properties.
Advantages
Quickness - measuring usually takes less than 1 second; even shorter measuring time is possible.
Non-destructiveness - Thanks to 3R AMI a 100 percent incoming and outgoing inspection of material type can be performed also in situations where it had not been possible or where it had been too expensive.
Sensitivity and reliability - The usage of a multi-frequency eddy-current measuring method together with special mathematical models and highly efficient algorithms ensures high sensitivity and reliability.
Simplicity and user-friendliness - Simplicity was one of the important aspects which were taken into account during the development of the 3R AMI software. Among its key features are unlimited number of groups and their automatic setting. The aim is to achieve reliable results even with a small number of calibration samples and without the need of a previous training or any special sample preparation. This all should be fast and non-destructive.
Principle - a multi-frequency eddy-current measuring method is used for data acquisition. The method is suitable with all electrically conductive and/or magnetic materials. The collected measured data are automatically processed with integrated mathematical models and algorithms.
Hardware - the 3R AMI system was developed by 3R Technics specifically for the eddy current device MAGNATEST® D from the Foerster Company . The software enables an automatic material identification.
Applications - Both static and dynamic measurements are possible. The tested material can be of various shapes: from plates and strips of sheet metal through wires, rods and pipes to various profiles and parts.

Neden Karabasan ve Kabus Görürüz?

Uyku ve rüyada, beynin çağrışımla ilgili işlevlerinin arttığı görülür, neden sonuç ilişkisi rüyalarda bazen korunabildiği halde, genellikle algısal değişimlerle bozulur. Papaya

Papaya bitkisi yapraklarını dökmeyen, tropikal bölgelerde yetişen büyük bir çalı veya küçük bir ağaçtır. Meyveleri kavuna benzediği için ona kavun ağacı da denir. Güneşli, sıcak, humuslu ve bol sulu topraklarda yetişir. Dişi ve erkek papaya bitkileri ayrı ayrı olup (nadiren birlikte); meyve üretmek için her ikisine de ihtiyaç vardır. Meyveleri yaz aylarında iyice olgunlaştıktan sonra toplanır. Bitkinin boyu türlerine göre 1,2 – 3,6 m. arasında olabilir.Olgunlaşmamış papaya meyveleri; bazı ülkelerde (Güney Amerika) sebze olarak pişirilmekte veya salatası yapılmaktadır. 

Papaya meyvesi; demir, kalsiyum, potasyum, fosfor mineralleri ile A, B1, B2, C vitaminleri ve karoten (carotene – kansere karşı koruyucu bir madde) açısından oldukça zengindir. Fakat modern kullanımı, içerdiği bu vitamin ve minerallerin yanısıra, meyvelerinde bulunan bol miktardaki proteolitik enzimlerden (Proteinleri eriten ve sindiren enzimler: Papain, Papaya peptidase-A ) kaynaklanmaktadır. Bu doğal enzimlerden en etkilisi olan papain’ dir. Papain’ e, mide tarafından salgılanan ve proteinleri sindiren-parçalayan enzim olan pepsin’ e benzerliği nedeniyle “Bitkisel Pepsin” adı da verilir.
